Property photographyThey say a picture paints a thousand words, and when it comes to selling your home this couldn’t be more pertinent.

We often get asked by vendors how best to prepare their homes for professional photos, in order to help set the stage for capturing the home at its best.

Here are some top tips we have put together which may help when preparing your property for photos:

Front/back yard
Clear away rubbish bins, garden tools, hose, pet bowls, toys, and general rubbish.
Remove hose from the swimming pool (if you have one).

Lounge, sunroom, family areas
Clear all floor space.
Clear tables/coffee table, sideboards of remote controls, papers, keys etc.
Think about simple decorations and flowers for the dining table.

Kitchen/ bathroom
Clean thoroughly – including shower screen, bath, oven door, fridge.
Clear all surfaces – bottles, deodorants, toothbrushes, hair brushes, shavers, electrical appliances, bread boards etc.
Ensure sinks are clean.
Hide rubbish, pet bowls, shoes etc.
Hide calendars, personal items, and photos.
Remove fridge magnets.
Remove tea towel from handle of stove.

Clear floor space.
Make beds.
Hide medication, deodorant, shoes and other clutter.
Think about hiding personal belongings such as jewellery and photos.
Ensure curtains are even on hooks and neat.
Close wardrobe and drawer doors.

Ensure all light bulbs are working.
If possible, keep vehicles out of the driveway.
Mow lawn if needed.
Consider cleaning windows if a photo from within the house is required i.e. to capture a view.

Now, let your beautiful house do the work!
